About Dave Hibbins
I believe a good story can do more than entertain — it can heal, provoke, inspire, or even reroute a life.
I’m Dave Hibbins — author, traveler, and observer of life’s hidden moments. From the jungles of Southeast Asia to the quiet ache of personal growth, I write across genres because life doesn’t stick to just one. Whether it’s a love story born on the road or a thriller carved from shadows, my aim is simple: to leave a mark — and a map.
Who I Am
I’ve worn a few titles in my time — soldier, entrepreneur, expat, guide, photographer, author. But underneath them all, I’m a storyteller.
My early life was shaped by intensity — military training at Duntroon, the structure of accounting, and the sharp edges of loss. But it wasn’t until I stepped away from the noise — away from the desk, the battlefield, and the expectations — that I found the rhythm I now live by.
Today, I split my time between the streets of Phuket and the mountain paths of Nepal. I run a travel company, capture life through the lens, and write books that move between worlds: the external landscapes I explore, and the internal ones I’ve come to understand.

Why I Write
I write because life moves too fast to catch in the moment — but on the page, we get a second chance.
My writing is how I slow the world down. It’s how I process what’s been lost, celebrate what still matters, and chase meaning in a time when everything feels disposable.
Some stories come from memory. Others from imagination. But they all come from truth — the kind you feel in your gut when something’s real.
Whether it’s a man on a motorbike searching for something he can’t name, or a woman learning how to love herself again after heartbreak — I write for people who are awake enough to feel it all, and brave enough not to look away.
What I Write
I don’t believe in sticking to one lane — because life doesn’t.
My stories stretch across genres, but they’re all cut from the same cloth: emotional honesty, vivid place, and the quiet tension between who we are and who we could become.
– Action & Thrillers — like the Cole Rainer series — dig into the shadows, where justice isn’t always clean and survival comes with scars.
– Romantic Journeys explore connection in unfamiliar places, where love isn’t perfect, but it’s real.
– Self Help & Emotional Growth comes from lived experience — grief, healing, rebuilding — written not as advice, but as a companion through the hard stuff.
– Travel Stories & Visuals capture the world as I see it — sometimes through a lens, sometimes through the soul.
Every book is different, but the thread is always the same: real people, real places, and the moments that change us.
Where I Am
These days, I call Thailand home. Specifically, a little corner of Phuket where the sunsets hit just right and the stories seem to walk in off the street.
I also spend time in Nepal — guiding travellers through its mountains, running a company built on real connection, and reminding myself what stillness feels like.
My life is lived between flights, photos, notebooks, and night walks. And while I’ve moved around a lot, one thing stays the same: I’m always chasing that feeling — when a place, a moment, or a person reminds you that you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

My Beliefs
I don’t have all the answers — but I do believe in a few things:
I believe time is shorter than we think, and most people wait too long to start living.
I believe in making things that matter — not just to be seen, but to be remembered.
I believe love is worth the risk, even when it doesn’t work out.
I believe the road teaches us things stillness can’t.
I believe stories can save us, or at least show us we’re not alone.
And above all, I believe we’re here to feel it fully — the good, the brutal, the real — and do something honest with what we find.
Quote
“Time doesn’t wait, and neither should we. I write to live twice — once in the world, and once in the words.”
